Whom do chimpanzees like?
Chimpanzees are very social. They travel, feed and rest together, and when resting they may play with each other or groom partners. Grooming is a term used when chimpanzees clean parasites and dirt from a partner’s fur. Grooming not only serves hygienic purposes, it is also proof of friendship. Chimpanzees can spend hours grooming a partner -- and one can see how enjoyable it must be.
A chimpanzee family consists of a mother and her children. The members of a family show strong, life-long bonds. They help and support each other whenever needed. But close bonds develop among non relatives as well. Such friends groom and share food with each other in order to build and maintain these bonds.
