Protection of high priority internationally classified forests

Protection of high priority internationally classified forests in Côte d’Ivoire (Cavally and Goin-Débé) and Liberia (Grebo Forest) by bio-monitoring for an updated and detailed survey of the fauna towards establishment of an improved management plan of logging activities to reduce their potentially devastating effects. The aim is to protect the habitat for the large number of chimpanzees still living in these forests. Given that most surviving great apes in Africa live outside protected areas, protection measures have urgently to be extended to such forests.
