This Wednesday 23 July 2025, 46 key players met in Kindia to review the progress of the NaturaGuinée project. Ministries, technical and financial partners, including Rio Tinto, Winning Consortium Simandou (WCS), civil society, etc. all came together for a half-yearly review that was hailed by the National Steering Committee!
Led by the Wild Chimpanzee Foundation and supported by the European Union, the project presented:
Elephant biomonitoring,
Mitigation measures related to railway construction work in the future Pinselli-Soyah Sabouyah National Park (PN-PSS),
Livelihoods strengthening,
Objectives and commitment for the Pinselli-Soyah-Sabouyah National Park.
A captivating video highlighted concrete results from the field. Enriching exchanges led to strong recommendations, including the urgent need to officially create the PN-PSS! On this occasion, the WCF reiterated its gratitude to the local communities in the project area and its institutional and financial partners, in particular Ministère de l’Environnement et du Développement Durable (MEDD), Ministère de l’Administration du Territoire et de la Décentralisation (MATD), Ministère de l’Agriculture (MA), Ministère de la Pêche et de l’Élevage (MPE), Office Guinéen des Parcs Nationaux et Réserves de Faune (OGPRNF), the National Protected Area Authority (NPAA) of Sierra Leone, as well as the European Union for their constant support.
