As part of the creation of Pinselli-Soyah-Sabouyah National Park, funded by the European Union and Rainforest Trust, and implemented by the Wild Chimpanzee Foundation in collaboration with Office Guinéen des Parcs Nationaux et Réserves de Faune, groundwork is being carried out with local communities for the management of conflicts related to natural resources.
Thanks to the Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) approach, communities are fully involved in the park creation process. This strategy includes:
✅ The establishment of a mechanism for submitting and resolving complaints
✅ The installation of 40 complaint boxes since 2024
✅ The organisation of 27 consultation forums bringing together 4,244 people, including 1,609 women
✅ The processing of 160 complaints related to human-wildlife conflicts, 134 of which were resolved amicably and certified by conciliation reports.
This system provides communities with a permanent forum for exchange, enabling them to express their opinions, make recommendations and actively participate in the integrated management of Pinselli-Soyah-Sabouyah National Park, promoting harmonious coexistence between people and nature. The WCF warmly thanks its partners and donors: European Union, Rainforest Trust, Office Guinéen des Parcs Nationaux et Réserves de Faune and Ministère de l’Environnement et du Développement Durable.
