Ecotourism in the Taï National Park – A Nature Culture Project in Taï
The Wild Chimpanzee Foundation proposes to promote conservation and sustainable development of the Taï region with respectful tourism of the natural environment and local culture. The inhabitants of Taï asked the WCF to support them in the design and implementation of this community project. The rates charged for the various local activities under WCF-lead are a contribution to maintain the activities, including the fee for the eco-guides and the people organizing the traditional evenings, buying and repairing material, and keeping the forest camps functional.
Nature
In partnership with the Ivorian Office of Parks and Reserves (Office Ivoirien des Parcs et Réserves), the project will allow visitors to discover a tropical rainforest with rare and unique animals such as the red colobus, the pygmy hippopotamus and especially chimpanzees!
Culture
The Western Region of Côte d’Ivoire is famous for its richness in traditional dances and masks, including those of the Guéré, Dao and Oubi people. This culture is just as impressive as the nature of this region.
