Forest regeneration

The Wild Chimpanzee Foundation has developed a forest regeneration and restoration program in the Moyen-Bafing National Park, proposed Pinselli-Soyah-Sabouyah National Park, and proposed Badiar National Park, using the Natural Ecological Regeneration (NER) which consists of maintaining the current tree species and encouraging growth by: 1) systematic cutting of herbaceous plants to avoid the spread of fires, 2) weeding around saplings to reduce nutritional competition with herbaceous plants, 3) branch pruning to guide growth, and 4) implementing sampling design to ensure growth monitoring and species compositions.
