Ecotourism Taï

The Wild Chimpanzee Foundation proposes to promote conservation and sustainable development of the Taï region through a respectful tourism focusing on the natural environment and local culture. Ecotourism Taï is an ecotourism community project which allow you to visit Taï National Park as well as a neighboring traditional village. The inhabitants of Taï asked the WCF to support them in the design and implementation of this community project, which is now on the way to becoming an autonomous NGO run by eco-guides. The rates charged for the various local activities under WCF-lead are a contribution to maintain the activities, including the fee for more than twenty employees including 14 eco-guides, buying and repairing material, keeping the forest camps functional, the contribution to the people managing the traditional village, as well as the taxes paid to the Taï Town Hall and to the Ivorian Office of Parks and Reserves (OIPR) managing the Park.
Nature stays
In partnership with the OIPR (Ivorian Office of Parks and Reserves), the project allows visitors to discover the biggest protected primary forest from West Africa with rare and unique animals such as forest elephants, pygmy hippos and especially chimpanzees! Two primate species are already habituated to human presence and can be easily observed: the sooty mangabeys and the red colobus monkeys.
Culture stays
The Western Region of Côte d’Ivoire is famous for its richness in traditional dances and masks, including those of the Dao and Oubi people. This culture is just as impressive as the nature of this region, this is why the WCF wanted to develop the cultural offering with a group from the village of Daobly, in the land of the Guéré people. You can attend the traditional woman dances and sleep in the village in the B&B formula.
