Law enforcement

03

Law enforcement with support from the Forestry Development Authority auxiliary program with 61 auxiliaries from local communities are occurring in priority areas identified during the community ecoguard surveillance patrols in Sapo, Grebo-Krahn and proposed Kwa National Parks, as well as in Lake Piso Sustainable Multiple Use Reserve. WCF has implemented and supports the community ecoguard programs at seven established and proposed protected areas, with 212 community ecoguards in total, at Grebo-Krahn, Sapo and proposed Kwa National Parks, as well as in collaboration with partners at Lake Piso Sustainable Multiple Use Reserve, Gola Forest National Park and Cestos-Senkwehn and Foya Proposed Protected Areas. The community ecoguards collect SMART data and report monitoring results to the authorities, with detailed results of illegal human activities and animal densities, so that law enforcement patrols can be most efficient.
